TERRESTRIAL is a new body of written works by Ed Scissor. Citing Grouper’s ‘A I A : Alien Observer’ as an inspirational start-point, TERRESTRIAL explores the peaceful rhythms of the universe through a blissful suburban lens; psychogeographical daydreams and low fantasy punctuating the mundane with the sublime.
A desire line running through the last two years of Ed’s life and work, TERRESTRIAL leans on solitude, separation and grief, nurturing a playful abstraction as the text unfolds. The magic and madness of the seasons; the sun, moon and stars central characters in a collection that is both deeply personal, but also crystalline, as if out-of-body, observed through the eyes of another.
In collaboration with renowned artist Will Barras, TERRESTRIAL sees the pair reunite twelve years on from their first collaboration back in the Olympic Summer of 2012; Ed visiting Will in his Woolwich studio and reading TERRESTRIAL aloud for Will to interpret in his signature pen and ink style
